These rules below cover the following Sarasota County Middle Schools:

Six (6) minutes quarters (4 Quarters)

Clock will stop on every whistle

Half time break will be Ten (10) minutes

The official scorekeeper and clock operator must be an adult

There will be a fifteen (15) minute warm-up before games

If coaches choose to stand, they must remain in the coach’s box. (28’ hash mark to End line)

There will be no running clock in any situation no matter the score

Only half-court defense by both teams when the score margin hits 30 points

The half-court defense rule stays in effect until the margin is 20 points or less

Basic basketball game guidelines include.

1. Length of each quarter lasts 6 minutes.

2. There is a 10 minute warm up before the game.

3. After the first and third quarters, there is a one minute break.

4. Halftime will last 10 minutes.

5. Overtime periods will run 3 minutes in length.

6. Clock stops on all whistles, (dead balls).

7. There is a 5 foul limit.

8. Each team receives three-60 second timeouts and two-30 second timeouts.
